YANGON, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- The official Myanmar Alin daily Sunday hailed the winning of two gold medals by the country's Sepak Takraw team in the just-concluded 16th Asian Games in China's southern city of Guangzhou.
The daily published a number of photos covering the news of the victory hailed by sports enthusiasts.
Myanmar men team won the gold medal in men's double final event, while Myanmar women team scored the same gold medal in women's double final.
Myanmar contingent has earned a total of 10 medals -- two gold, five silver and three bronze in the Asian Games, lifting the country to 22nd place in medal tally.
In the Guangzhou Asian Games from Nov. 12 to 27, Myanmar competed in ten sports events -- billiards and snooker, weightlifting, Wushu, swimming, shooting, volleyball, dragon boat, archery, track and field, sepak takraw.
In the 15th Asian Game held in Doha, Myanmar participated in eight sports events and got four silver and seven bronze medals.
In the 22nd SEA Game in Vietnam in 2003, Myanmar pocketed five gold medals, while in the 2nd Hong Kong International Wushu Championship in 2007, Myanmar Wushu players grabbed 11 medals.
